Elly has been creating tech reviews on social media since the dawn of YouTube. She started creating content way back in 2007, when most people thought it was a bit ... strange... to talk to a camera alone in your bedroom. Classically, it was Elly's confidence to go against the grain, work hard, and ability to recognise the gaining popularity of vlogs and video on social media, which contributed to Elly's success. It was Elly's dream to entertain people and make them smile, partly inspired by the Australian morning cartoon's show 'Cheez TV', and her endearing, yet dorky, knee-jerk to hog the camera and narrate her parents home videos filmed with a cheap camcorder, all since the age of 4.
Since 2010 Elly has worked hard to make the most transfixing and easy to understand entertaining tech content. In doing so to this day she's held onto her position as Australia's most followed and trusted female Tech content creator. Now, we all know, the word 'influencers' and Elly is the go-to gal in Australia's tech & lifestyle space, reviewing products on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube for an online following of over 1.2 million. She is not only the top female tech creator in Australia but one of the top female tech creators in the world.
Initially, it was pivotal products like the GameBoy, the Nokia 3310, that twisty SideKick mobile phone, the iPod touch and original iPhone that really got Elly into tech. But she also had an immediate affinity for computers and as a child and was sneaking onto the computer to create websites on Photoshop from the ages of 10-14. During this time Elly would also create pretend kids TV shows with friends at home and make home made magazines to hand out to random kids in the neighbourhood. Excitingly, after many years of practise as a presenter and YouTuber, Elly discovered Network 10 was holding auditions for a new Toasted TV presenter (this was literally the dream job of 'Cheez TV' rebranded with a new name). Out of approximately 300 applicants Elly got the gig and became the host (and writer) of Toasted TV, the national Australian kids TV program, from 2016-2019.
During the past 10 years Elly has also worked as a professional video editor, camera woman and MC and written a book called “How to Feel Awesome Every Day, published by Penguin Random House. Her book is a a feel-good DIY, recipe, activity and mindfulness book. It's aimed to help lower stress levels of kids and get them enjoying the world inside and outside, encouraging them to have fun without screens. Because although Elly loves her tech, she also grew up surrounded by nature and loves the outdoors.
More recently, since 2019 Elly has been a freelance tech journalist best know for writing techy articles for news.com.au.
Overall, Elly is an always-busy tech and lifestyle 'influencer' full-time and lives on the Gold Coast, often travelling to Sydney or overseas for work. Major brands Elly has worked with include Samsung, Officeworks, Apple, Xbox Australia and Timezone.
Footnote: Elly publicly came out as queer in 2017 and was the first Australian Children's TV presenter to do so during her time on air.
